Module/course Summary

The course is manly based on the analysis of case studies, most of them past deals, to give students real examples of issues related to the valuation process and how they were solved in reality.
The course presents, applies and discusses the main valuation methods (discounted cash flow method, relative valuation method, comparable transactions method, adjusted present value method, capital cash flow method, options), pro and cons of each methodology, possible issues related to their application, and valuation tools for specific kind of firms (financial institutions, small firms). Using case studies, the course examines different types of deals (acquisitions, LBO, IPO) and the valuation methodologies applied in those deals.
