Module/course Summary

Learning Outcomes

The objective of the course is to show that internationalization
strategies are multi-facetted. Students will get deep insights into
international market entry, target market, timing, allocation and coordination
strategies. It will be shown how the strategy dimensions are interrelated.
Students will not only acquire theoretical and conceptual knowledge, they will
also be taught how to apply this knowledge to practice. Case studies play a
very important role in this course. This will enable students to identify
similarities and differences between sectors and firms.


At the end of the course, the students


- will better understand the multi-dimensional nature of internationalization strategies


- will have deep insights into internationalization behaviour of firms from various industries and various
countries


- will be able to formulate and implement internationalization strategies


- will know how the international dimension of strategy can help to build and use a firm’s competitive advantages


- will be able to critically reflect upon internationalization, its antecedents and consequences
